Situated in front of Henry
VIII's majestic Palace on the banks of the River Thames, The Green is
a splendid tree-lined park that has long been a popular meeting place
for residents of the many communities surrounding Hampton Court. Traditionally,
The Green has hosted fairs, fetes, circuses and other social events and
is a much loved open space amenity attracting large numbers to shows staged
for a limited number of days each year.Though not inside its walls, The Green is very much an integral part of the Palace and events held there are organised by its permission and with the help and support of Palace staff. The Green is the perfect setting for A Country Affair. Decked out with stylish white marquees this lovely park is transformed into the countryside for three days, yet it benefits from all the advantages of being close to large centres of population. Excellent
train services to Hampton Court with connecting services from throughout
the South East via Wimbledon and Surbiton, make The Green accessible to visitors from far beyond the immediate area. Frequent bus services stop around The Green and there is a good network of roads with easy access from the M25, M3 and A3. There are cycle networks too, including fabulous rides along the Thames. And for those living in the communities around The Green- the Hamptons, Teddington, East and West Molesey, Kingston, Thames Ditton and Surbiton to name just a few- there are some wonderful walks leading to the show, many of them through Bushy Park and along the Thames. A Country Affair continues a long, historical tradition of hosting family events in association with the jewel in the crown at the heart of the community: the Royal Palace at Hampton Court. We look forward to welcoming you to The Green and to the Palace itself. |
